The management board is supported by the advisory management, whose chairwoman is Petra Hautau.
The company has flat management structures and a cooperative management style. A large number of employees, from administrative staff to managers, have been with the company for many years.
HAUTAU currently employs some 300 staff, of whom approx. 30% are women and 70% are men. About 60% of the employees work in production and about 40% in the office. HAUTAU is absolutely committed to training and professional development.
The HAUTAU family business was set up in Hagenburg in 1910 and then moved to the Kirchhorsten district of Helpsen in 1920. Over the decades, this location has developed from a small craftsmans workshop into a major player in the lock and fittings industry.
HAUTAU celebrated its centenary in 2010 by opening the HAUTAU PIZ Test and Innovation Centre. These two sites occupy a total plot space of approx. 55,000 m², with a building footprint of some 30,000 m².

Centenary and official opening of the HAUTAU PIZ Test and Innovation Centre, with adjoining production facilities totalling 5,600 m² at Wilhelm-Hautau-Strasse 2.

Invention of the REGENT® 59, the worlds first one-handed turn and tilt fitting.
Introduction of the TORNADO® pivot sash fitting.
Karlheinz Hautau, the founders son, takes over the running of the company.
Invention of the centrally mounted three-element shear with forced pressing inwards and out – the first HAUTAU rod fanlight opener. It is protected under the brand name ZENTRIK® in 1934.
The HAUTAU fitting manual appears for the first time in 1930. The "H" in a hexagonal screw head also appears for the first time on the cover and is registered as a trademark at the same time.
Move to a house with an adjoining factory building in Helpsen.
Wilhelm Hautau founds the company in Hagenburg as a workshop in a shed. On 23 April 1910 the first MARS® single-cord fanlight openers are sold.
This date is later defined as the founding date of what is now HAUTAU GmbH.
