Quick and easy ventilation concept

New software from the German Window Automation and Smoke Extraction Association.

HAUTAU GmbH is a member of the German Window Automation and Smoke Extraction Association and thus one of the renowned experts specialising in window automation and smoke extraction, especially controlled natural ventilation and natural smoke extraction. The association has now developed a web-based design software which calculates the required air renewal through windows using controlled natural ventilation.

A ventilation concept in compliance with DIN 1946-6 needs to be used in a new building due to required thermal performance or when ventilation-relevant changes are made in the case of a major renovation – when windows are replaced, for example.

The association’s design tool quickly and easily calculates whether ventilation system measures are required for residential and non-residential buildings, determining the type if they are.

Result in just 5 steps
The specialist tool analyses in advance whether the natural air renewal via the building envelope is sufficient to deliver the required minimum automatic air exchange without any intervention from users. Once general project data, climatic conditions, building information, usable area units and specific room details are entered, the software tool uses this information to determine whether ventilation measures are necessary. It directly calculates the required air volume flow rate for each room and the air volume flows regulated by the automated window ventilation system. The ventilation concept can be downloaded directly as a PDF file and given to the developer to fulfil mandatory documentation requirements. The new software delivers a detailed result after just five steps, reducing the time and effort required for design enormously. Both planners and contractors gain greater reliability and liability risk is avoided. The finished ventilation concept determines which ventilation measures need to be adopted in a building to ensure a healthy indoor climate and reliably prevent moisture damage. HAUTAU offers a wide range of individual solutions for controlled natural ventilation.
